Non-ferrous metals

Alumina production methods can be broadly divided into four types: alkaline, acid, combined acid-base, and thermal methods. The alkali method is divided into the Bayer method, the sintering method, and the combined Bayer-sintering method. The alkali method is to use alkali to treat aluminum ore so that the alumina in the ore is transformed into sodium aluminate solution, and the iron, titanium, and other impurities in the ore and most of the silicon become insoluble compounds, and the insoluble residue (red mud) is separated from the solution, and the useful components are recovered by washing, and the pure sodium aluminate solution decomposes and precipitates aluminum hydroxide, which is separated from the mother liquor and roasted after washing to get the finished alumina.

The plate heat exchanger is mainly used in the alumina industry for the cooling of the concentrate in the decomposition section, which is cooled down to process temperature by step (heat exchange with mother liquor and water respectively). As the concentrate (over-saturated sodium aluminate solution) is prone to "scarring", the plate heat exchanger needs to be cleaned regularly, with strong alkali or strong acid cleaning solution. The plate material can be selected from 316L, 254SMo, AL-6XN, etc.

The all-welded wide channel plate heat exchanger is used in the middle cooling section of the decomposition and grading process in alumina production, installed on the top of the decomposition tank for cooling the alumina hydroxide slurry in the decomposition process. Its main applicable features are as follows.

1, wide channel side running medium is aluminum hydroxide slurry, the medium flow rate is generally 0.6 ~ 1.2m/s. A high flow rate drives the slurry containing solid particles to flow on the surface of the plate, without accumulating material or scarring blockage.

2, wide channel side without contacts, the fluid can achieve completely free flow and filled the entire flow channel formed by the plate, the surface of the plate almost all participate in the heat exchange, in the flow channel to achieve no "dead zone" of flow.

3The slurry import and export parts are equipped with a distribution structure, the slurry first passes through the distribution port, then enters the distribution box, and finally enters each wide channel very evenly.

4The slurry side distribution box and cooling water side pipe box both adopt the removable structure with a flat cover and sliding door principle, which can be disassembled at any time.

5The ball-type welding structure with good force form is adopted between the plate pairs, which has a stronger pressure-bearing capacity.

6The material of the plate is SAF2205 (S31803) duplex steel, which is a good solution for corrosion and abrasion.

7The form of the plate bundle is horizontal, the slurry goes down into the top and out, which effectively inhibits the settling and scarring of the slurry.

The steel industry is a major consumer of energy. The steel manufacturing process generates a large amount of idle heat, such as hot air, exhaust gas, and hot water vapor, which will be absorbed by, for example, buildings, equipment, cooling oil, cooling water, and other media, which all require cooling. About 50% of the heat discharged from a steel plant is below 300<C, of which cooling water below 100<C accounts for a large proportion of the total heat discharged.
